Building unbreakable motivation!

“Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn briefly”

–Stephen R Covey

#1 Believe in yourself

Learning how to believe in yourself will open up endless possibilities in your life. At times you may find this difficult to do. The truth is that we’ve been conditioned throughout our lives to doubt ourselves because there is always somebody out there who can do it better than us.

Here are the steps to start believing in yourself.

Believe it’s possibleBelieve that you can do it regardless of what anyone says or where you are in life, believe that you’re the master of your abilities and anything you set out to do can be achieved better than anyone else.

Act as if. Always act in a way that is consistent with where you want to go.

Act towards your goals. Do not let fear stop you, nothing happens in life until you act.

#2 Do it for your loved ones (preferably family)

We all have people in our lives who bring out the best in us, people who are always there even when the going gets tough, people who accept us in spite of our flaws and people who listen to us even if they don’t understand what we are saying, these people need to be appreciated and they should remain at the forefront of our minds whenever we are faced with motivation crushing obstacles.

Working for yourself is a sign of independence but working for yourself and others is a sign of incomparable maturity.

#3 Engage in your hobbies

Engaging in your hobbies helps build confidence and motivation because as you are doing something you love, you can appreciate your skills and, the rush from performing the hobby will lead to heightened levels of happiness which (if you read the previous blog post) means more dopamine is produced. Dopamine is what drives motivation.

#4 Constantly remind yourself of the end goal

By adding a visualization practice to your daily routine, you will naturally become more motivated to reach your goals. Think about exactly what your life would look like if you had already achieved your dream, doing so gives you a sense of confidence which can be carried throughout your day. You’ll start to notice you are unexpectedly doing things that move you closer to your ideal life.

Suddenly, you find yourself volunteering to take on more responsibility at work, speaking out at staff meetings, asking more directly for what you want, and taking more risks in your personal and professional life, and experiencing bigger pay-offs.

One way to do this is with a motivational vision board. A vision board is a graphic representation of exactly what you want in life. You look at it every day. Use it to visualize exactly where you want to go.

#5 Gratitude is the best attitude

Isn’t it human nature to be jealous and be envious of other people and the things they possess? But an attitude of gratitude is what it takes to reverse the effects of jealousy. Gratitude and appreciation go hand in hand. It is a mind managing tool that has the power to change how we feel about a certain situation. It also helps to set our goals and achieve them in the right manner. Appreciate and then be grateful for things around you. Like your achievements, failures, having a loving family and friends. Not to forget the food on the table and the air you breathe.

Wake up and say “I am thankful for this day”

I am going to make this day a great one. Doing so allows you to look at the positive sides. Having an attitude of gratitude can also bring great peace of mind in our lives.

Perform an act of kindness

Giving to the less fortunate, helping your neighbor with something, giving your partner a little gift or preforming community service are great ways of showing your appreciation to the world, doing so will naturally instill the gratitude attitude.

Empathize

Empathy is our ability to put ourselves in the shoes of others, empathizing daily builds crazy levels of gratitude.

END

Motivation is mostly harnessed from within and more often than not, motivation harnessed from within is the most resilient when faced with obstacles and challenges.
